• The algae bloom in the lake has dissipated; probably because of the heavy rains a few weeks ago. A representative from a lake management company has surveyed our lake and suggests that if the gray colored algae reappear, we could use a non-toxic algaecide. He also suggests that native emergent aquatic plants could be planted along the shoreline where there are no seawalls. Sunlight is a leading contributor to algal production. Aquatic plants help by competing with algal colonies for sunlight as well as basic nutrients such as Nitrogen and Phosphorus. Aquatic plants also provide habitat for fish and waterfowl.


• In the R/O plant, both bladder tanks are installed and on line. Mike and Neil along with the maintenance staff have spent a significant amount of time rearranging the water distribution lines and installing the bladder tanks after the hydro tank was removed. King’s Gate Club is very fortunate to have so many volunteers who get the job done and save the club lots of money.


• The Sewer Plant has had two air blowers that facilitate the processing of the sewerage to fail. Fortunately we did have backup equipment and quickly replaced the failed blowers thus avoiding a “DO NOT FLUSH NOTICE”.


• Last month I reported that “our landscaping company is still learning our property”. Now I’m convinced they are slow learners. Many of you have reported problems and these are turned over to Valley Crest. If they do not correct the problem by the next mowing, let the office know.


• There has been no further contact from the county about their purchase of that portion of 8 Acres in which they are interested.


• Tom Hicks is planning the installation of the new stage lights for some time this summer. The portion of the hall close to the stage will need to be closed during the installation period.


• Tom Patricca, Rex Ingerick, Don Richmond and I inspected the areas for work that needed to be done this summer. The tennis courts and the shuffleboard courts will be resurfaced and the tennis court fencing will be repaired. Several other projects are in the works and will be announced later.
