NOVEMBER BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
MANAGERS REPORT

• It is budget time again and the committee will begin their meetings early next month.



• The front gate & island projects are nearing completion. The wall around the island, the stone base for the sign and the pavers at the front of the waterfall ponds are in place. The ponds have been sandblasted and a rustic stone finish will be applied shortly. The field stones that form the water fall have developed a rusty coating from the iron in them. They will be cleaned and sealed. Some additional fieldstones will be added to hide some of the water pipes and electrical conduits. Sometime after the holidays, additional landscaping material will be planted among the new foxtail palms. The paint on sign at the front is fading in places. The sign manufacturer is aware of the problem and assures us that they will take care of it.



• There is a STOP sign at the exit from the Club property onto Kings Way Drive. This means that traffic from King's Gate Park has the right of way over KGC traffic. Please observe the STOP sign. There have been a few near misses recently.



• A group of volunteers along with the club staff spread the mulch in the beds on the common property. Thanks to all for a job well done. The project was completed by 9:45 that morning.



• An orientation session for the new features at the woodshop will be held very soon. Watch the newsletter or Channel 33 for the notice of date & time. Key holders and non key holders will be welcome to attend.



• In order to allow the landscape crews to have a long weekend over the Thanksgiving holiday, they will mow the Club's property this Saturday and the following Monday.



• Some of you may have seen on Channel 7 news a report that the Sarasota County Commission has proposed to sell $60M in bonds for a stimulus plan. To quote the news report - "$5 million will be used to extend Honore Avenue to Laurel Road. Improvements to libraries and facilities at local beaches including Siesta, Nokomis, Manasota, and Caspersen Beach. 'We are doing a series of borrowing that will allow us to take projects that were originally scheduled for say eight, nine, ten years out and start those now or within the next couple months so we can get people to work and get some projects done,' says Deputy County Administrator Dave Bullock." The BOD has instructed me to contact Attorney Gill to determine how this proposal will affect KGC. At this time, he has not responded with any new information.
